Expressing one’s self artistically can help to increase coping skills, enhance cognitive function, develop and manage behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness. Art Therapy is offered in both individual and group sessions provided by our Registered Art Therapist, Denise Wells.

Works to develop or rebuild trust and express emotions for people who weren’t able to form healthy attachments with their first caregivers (usually parents). Attachment therapy works to heal the loss or damage of attachment that can occur in early development due to trauma, abuse or neglect. Using techniques in attachment therapy Individuals learn how to form attachments and safe, healthy relationships.

Individuals on the autism spectrum may have unique struggles with mental health. We offer supports that include an understanding of different abilities and perceptions as well as communication challenges that can impede developing a therapeutic relationship to support personal growth. By using a combination of developmental knowledge, applied behavior analytic techniques and counseling strategies, our goal is to help individuals on the autism spectrum have a safe place where they can learn and develop skills.

Ear Acupuncture (Acudetox)

Ear Acupuncture (Acudetox)

A form of acupuncture that targets five points on the ear connected to clearing emotional and physical toxins and the reduction of cravings for unhealthy substances, behaviors, and emotions. Acupuncture originated in China thousands of years ago and involves inserting very thin needles into the skin at specific points to move energy through targeted pathways. Many people also report feeling relaxed and at ease after ear acupuncture sessions due to the release of reward brain chemicals.

An approach to treating trauma by studying how past memories activate emotions in the present. One of the goals of EMDR is to have clients recognize that the traumatic event was in the past and they are safe in the present, moving them from emotional activation to a more rational, logical place.

Yoga

Yoga

A practice that combines physical yogic postures, breathing, awareness, mindfulness, and meditation. By promoting relaxation and body sensation awareness, the practice of yoga can release physical and emotional pain. Science now shows that yoga can reduce anxiety and symptoms of depression, and with long-term practice may have positive effects on those that have had issues with substance misuse and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
